RItrain and CORBEL workshops
I am writing to invite you to two back-to-back workshops, supported by the H2020 projects RItrain (http://ritrain.eu/) and CORBEL (http://www.corbel-project.eu) respectively, on addressing skills gaps for managers and technical operators of research infrastructures. The workshops will be hosted by the EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), in Hinxton, UK on 16-18 February 2016.
‘Addressing the skills gaps in research infrastructure management and leadership’ will start at 12:00 noon on Tuesday 16 February and end at lunchtime on Wednesday 17 February. This workshop is aimed at current leadership of emerging and existing Research Infrastructures in all disciplines. The workshop will enable you to provide input on training needs for the management and leadership of research infrastructures, to inform the design of a new training programme aimed at the managers and leaders of European Research Infrastructures.
Information on this workshop, including the link to the registration page, is at http://tinyurl.com/jkma8pd. We will book accommodation for you if you register. Johanna Langrish (firstname.lastname@example.org), the event organiser for the workshops, will be in touch about your accommodation needs.
‘Addressing the skills gaps in technical operation of biomedical research infrastructures’ will start at 12:30 on Wednesday 17 February and end at lunchtime on Thursday 18 February. This workshop is aimed at the technical operators of Biomedical Science Research Infrastructures and will provide an opportunity for you to provide input into CORBEL’s training plans, ensuring that they will meet the needs of technical operators in your research infrastructure, especially with regards to data management, user access, ethical, legal and social implications, and innovation.
You are very welcome to register for both workshops or just the one that is most relevant to your needs. We will be able to refund second class/economy travel for one representative from each ESFRI or EIROForum research infrastructure.

Both workshops will be highly interactive and we would be delighted to hear from you if you would like to present a case study illustrating a managerial, leadership or technical challenge that your research infrastructure has faced. Please send your proposals to Cath Brooksbank (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please feel free to forward this message on to anyone whom you feel would benefit from attending.
We hope to see you in Hinxton in February.
