RItrain Project Structure

WP 1: Coordination and Project Management

Lead: BBMRI-ERIC

WP1 coordinates and supervises all processes of the project. It is responsible for reporting to the EU, and coordinates and supervises all contract negotiations. In particular, WP1 organises the annual general meetings, the meetings and teleconferences of the Management Team, External Advisory Board and stakeholder and user meetings. It prepares documents for and reports of these meetings, and is responsible for coordinating internal and external communication. Furthermore, it coordinates the activities of RItrain with that of other external projects and takes care of proper integration of RItrain in the global context.

WP 2: Competency definition

Lead: EMBL

WP2 defines the competencies required by research infrastructures at each phase of their life cycle, from initial conception to maturity. WP2 develops an organisational competency framework that can be used both as a diagnostic tool, allowing research infrastructures to identify gaps in competency, and as a planning tool for the project to base its curriculum development on.

WP 3: Course mapping and gap analysis

Lead: MUW

WP3 maps existing relevant courses in Europe, includes the identified courses into the on-course® database to make them searchable, and performs gap analyses based on feedback from the research infrastructures, the required competencies that WP2 defines, and the information on-course® provides. Identified gaps are first shared with the project consortium and then published broadly (via websites, newsletters, social media, publications, etc.).

WP 4: Curriculum development

Lead: UNIMIB

WP4 develops a tailored Master's course in Research Infrastructure Management directed at current and future managers of Research Infrastructures (RI).

WP 5: Continuing professional development

Lead: EMBL

WP5 provides continuing professional development for the current generation of managers of research infrastructure through a combination of webinare and staff exchanges. These also includes case studies and projects for the Master in Research Infrastructure Management described in WP4.
